The BitDevs Lagos meetup holds its 36th edition on Saturday, 31st October 2026, at 3pm WAT at theBUNKer Yaba, Lagos. The event is sponsored by Btrust. BitDevs Lagos runs monthly meetups for people who want to discuss how Bitcoin works.
Two topics will be discussed.
The first is stranded miners. Mining pools set a difficulty for each miner and adjust it based on how often shares come in. Some pools only adjust when a share arrives. When a miner slows down and stops sending shares, the difficulty never drops and the miner gets stuck. The session will explain why this happens and look at the fixes proposed in Stratum v2 and DATUM. Both protocols let individual miners build their own block templates. In May 2026, seven large pools holding nearly 75 percent of global hashrate joined the Stratum V2 working group.
The second topic is AI attacks on Bitcoin. In August 2026, Core Lightning developers warned node operators after AI generated security reports revealed real vulnerabilities. The team said it spent 10 days reviewing reports from multiple sources. In September, Bitcoin Core contributors met to discuss whether the project is keeping pace with AI enabled threats. The meetup will ask what this means for Bitcoin Core, Lightning, wallets and everyday users, and whether attackers or defenders gain more from AI.
RSVP on Luma before the event.
