BitDevs Meetups Hold in Zaria and Ibadan

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT EVENTS

Two Nigerian cities will host Bitcoin developer meetups on Saturday, October 31, 2026. BitDevs Zaria and BitDevs Ibadan both list Btrust as sponsor. BitDevs are monthly meetups for learning and discussing Bitcoin, and Btrust, a nonprofit, supports selected communities across Africa.

Zaria hosts Socratic Seminar 002 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at BT Hub, No. 26 Western Road GRA. The topic is Proof of Work and the tools and skills needed for Bitcoin development. Proof of Work requires miners to spend real computing effort to add each block, which lets anyone verify transaction order without a central party. Register on Luma or read the X announcement.

Ibadan holds its 3rd edition at 3:00 PM WAT, at Worknub, West One, 2nd Floor, Building 2, Agodi GRA. After virtual editions, the group now meets in person. Part 1 is hands on with regtest, a private Bitcoin Core test network where attendees decide when blocks are created. They will mine blocks, send and decode a transaction, and write a message on chain with OP_RETURN.

Part 2 is a Socratic session, a discussion format built on questions and debate. Topics include Core 32.0, silent payments, the post quantum debate and recent BTCPay and Liquid exploits. Attendees should bring a laptop with Bitcoin Core installed, without syncing it. RSVP on Clooza.
