EDUCATION COMMUNITY

Bitcoin education project The Core has officially launched Cohort 12, its final free online Bitcoin course of 2026.

The orientation session took place recently and was co-hosted by founder Felix Mukungu and educator Walusungu Nyachikanda, introducing new students to the learning platform and program structure.

The two-month program features 21 interactive sessions held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Students will learn Bitcoin fundamentals, why Bitcoin matters, how to transact securely, and how to custody their Bitcoin.

Upon completion, participants receive a Certificate of Completion plus 500 sats sent directly to their Bitcoin wallet.

What Students Learn in The Core’s Bitcoin Diploma?

The Core uses their Bitcoin Diploma curriculum.

Key topics include:

  • The fundamentals of money and Bitcoin.
  • Why Bitcoin offers an alternative to traditional systems.
  • Practical skills for sending, receiving, and securely storing Bitcoin.
  • Connections to real-world tools, projects, and open-source resources.

Sessions run in the evenings (typically 8:00–9:00 PM East African Time) and combine structured learning with community interaction.

Educators Guiding Cohort 12

The Core has assembled a strong team of educators for this cohort:

Their combined experience spans education, community building, technical development, and real-world Bitcoin projects across Africa.

The Core’s Growing Impact on Bitcoin Education

Founded by Felix Mukungu after personal experiences with crypto scams, The Core began as a simple WhatsApp course and has grown into a structured free online program.

It runs four cohorts per year and has graduated more than 640 students from over 28 countries, with the majority from Kenya.

Graduates have gone on to launch their own initiatives, including Bitcoin circular economies, education projects, and community efforts. In Githurai (Nairobi), The Core has helped onboard merchants, including boda boda riders, food vendors, and shops, to accept Bitcoin Lightning payments as part of a local circular economy.

The organization also hosts monthly meetups, Bitcoin Unconferences, and mentorship programs. Its mission centers on creating Bitcoin awareness through education, content, and community building, with a clear vision of mass adoption.

Why This Cohort Matters?

As the last intake of 2026, Cohort 12 continues The Core’s consistent push for accessible Bitcoin education.

The program emphasizes not just theory but practical skills and connections to the broader Bitcoin ecosystem, aligning with the slogan “Bitcoin for Everyone.”

Registration for this cohort is now closed, with the next intake expected in January. Interested individuals can follow updates on The Core’s website or X account @thecore21m.
