In a vibrant push to bring Bitcoin education directly to local communities, the Nigerian-based nonprofit BitKwa has officially launched #SatsOnTheRoad. This pan-African grassroots journey is designed to put Bitcoin into the hands—and minds—of everyday Africans.
The Big Announcement: Destination Burkina Faso
Announced yesterday via X (formerly Twitter), the initiative’s first phase is hitting the road immediately. Phase 1 leads straight to @btcafriquefr (Bitcoin Burkina Faso) in Ouagadougou.
BitKwa’s Executive Director, Ayobami (@thecoachayobami), shared a promotional video featuring a striking graphic: the African continent overlaid with a glowing Bitcoin symbol. The message is clear: “A grassroots Bitcoin journey across Africa. Powered by Bitkwa.”
The official post states:
“#satsontheroad is ready! A grassroots Bitcoin Journey across Africa. With Phase 1, the road leads to @btcafriquefr at Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Powered by @BitKwaofficial.”
A Powerful Coalition for Adoption
The campaign isn’t traveling alone. It is supported by a strong coalition of key players in the African Bitcoin ecosystem, including:
-
Trezor Academy
-
Vexl
-
Bitcoin Pidgin
-
The CBA
BitKwa has already built a solid reputation through its Bitcoin Diploma program. Now, this new road-trip format takes that mission mobile. By driving education and merchant onboarding from one country to the next, BitKwa is actively building circular Bitcoin economies.
Why #SatsOnTheRoad Matters for Africa
Across much of the continent, traditional banking remains inaccessible or unreliable for millions. High inflation and expensive cross-border remittances have left many searching for better financial tools.
Fortunately, Bitcoin offers a borderless, censorship-resistant alternative. By using the fast and cheap Lightning Network, it provides a viable way to save and transfer value.
Creating Real-World Impact
By taking the message “on the road,” BitKwa is doing more than just teaching theory. They are demonstrating real-world use cases, such as:
-
Merchant payments in local markets.
-
Community savings circles.
-
Youth education programs.
This bottom-up approach fosters financial sovereignty and economic resilience where it is needed most. Early signs from BitKwa’s previous graduates show that Bitcoin is already helping small businesses hedge against volatility and helping families send money home instantly.
Follow the Journey
This is grassroots Bitcoin in motion. A continent-wide journey like #SatsOnTheRoad connects Bitcoiners across borders and provides visible proof that Bitcoin works for Africa.
