Btrust Builders has announced that its Q2 2026 Pathways will officially begin next week. This program focuses on training the next generation of open-source Bitcoin and Lightning developers across Africa. Specifically, this quarter offers two specialized tracks designed to equip developers with practical skills for the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Specialized Tracks: Rust and Language Clubs
The first track is “Rust for Bitcoiners.” This pathway targets intermediate and advanced developers who want to deepen their Rust programming skills. During the 4–6 week program, participants use curated resources to engage with modern Bitcoin open-source stacks. Furthermore, the curriculum emphasizes building the technical knowledge necessary for protocol-level contributions.
The second track is the “Language Clubs” pathway. This track focuses on strengthening fluency in languages like Python and C++. Specifically, these languages are essential for meaningful contributions to the Bitcoin network. Like the Rust track, this pathway promotes peer learning in a supportive environment.
A Hybrid Engagement Model
For this quarter, Btrust Builders is implementing a hybrid model to accommodate more participants. Each pathway will run in two distinct formats:
Live Cohorts: These include guided sessions, clear accountability, and direct mentorship.
Self-Paced Tracks: This format offers greater flexibility for independent learners.
Consequently, participants can choose the model that best fits their personal schedules. However, live cohorts remain selective and require an application.
The Developer Pipeline in Africa
Btrust Builders serves as a foundational “on-ramp” for African developers. Successful participants can eventually advance toward the Open Source Fellowship. Furthermore, the program provides a path toward grants and professional ecosystem roles.
This initiative is part of a broader mission to decentralize Bitcoin development. By training local talent, Btrust aims to strengthen Africa’s role in the global Bitcoin network.
