Bitcoin Calabar Announces Three-Day Bitcoin Education Bootcamp in Cross River State

EDUCATION ADOPTION COMMUNITY

Bitcoin Calabar, a grassroots Bitcoin circular economy initiative driving adoption through education and community building in Cross River State, Nigeria, has announced a three-day Bitcoin Education Bootcamp scheduled for February 26–28, 2026, at Bitcoiners Hub Calabar.

The bootcamp marks the 4th cohort organized in partnership with Trezor Academy. Announced via the community’s official social media channels, the program will focus on practical, hands-on Bitcoin education, including self-custody best practices, wallet security, and introductory Lightning Network usage.

The initiative reflects Bitcoin Calabar’s mission to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to participate confidently in the Bitcoin economy while strengthening local adoption across the region.

Focus on Self-Custody and Security

According to the announcement, the event will be held in Calabar, with in-person sessions aimed at local students, professionals, and small business owners interested in using Bitcoin as a tool for savings, payments, and financial sovereignty.

Organizers stated that the program will emphasize secure wallet setup, seed phrase management, and basic operational security, key areas often overlooked by new users. Participants will also receive guidance on avoiding common scams and understanding the importance of controlling private keys.

By centering the curriculum on self-custody rather than speculative trading, Bitcoin Calabar continues a broader trend among Nigerian Bitcoin communities prioritizing long-term knowledge and user sovereignty.

Expanding Bitcoin Education Beyond Major Cities

The bootcamp is part of Bitcoin Calabar’s broader effort to expand structured Bitcoin education in Nigeria’s South-South region. While Lagos and Abuja host frequent Bitcoin events and meetups, initiatives in other regions are steadily growing.

Community-led education efforts like this play a critical role in Nigeria’s Bitcoin ecosystem. As one of Africa’s most active peer-to-peer Bitcoin markets, Nigeria continues to see increasing grassroots interest driven by currency instability, cross-border payment needs, and demand for alternative savings mechanisms.
