What “Bigger Than Bitcoin” Is Really About

Unlike traditional Bitcoin coverage that focuses on markets or hype, this documentary emphasizes decentralized education and its tangible impact on human freedom.

Huber travels through Nairobi, Kibera, Githurai, Biashara, Mitaboni, Machakos, and other Kenyan communities to document grassroots efforts.

The film shows how local educators are teaching Bitcoin through:
  • Circular economies and merchant networks
  • Youth programs and hands-on learning
  • Women-led initiatives
  • Innovative projects like waste management powered by sats (EcoBitz)
  • Support for teen mothers and at-risk communities in Kibera.
“Bitcoin education is often a necessary precursor to adoption,” the film’s promotional materials note. “In Bigger Than Bitcoin, filmmaker Kyle Huber captures grassroots Bitcoin education spreading across Kenya through merchants, youth, women’s initiatives, and community projects.”

Why This Documentary Is a Must Watch?

Kenya’s growing digital population faces gaps left by traditional financial systems. The documentary illustrates how Bitcoin fills those gaps by enabling:
  • Everyday payments and savings
  • New income opportunities
  • Greater financial resilience and inclusion
It features personal stories, such as educator Kelvin’s journey toward purpose and family stability through Bitcoin, and practical examples of people earning, saving, and spending sats in their daily lives.

The film premiered with a screening at the Bitcoin Educators Unconference in Prague on June 10, 2026, and was uploaded to YouTube the same day. It has already resonated strongly within the Bitcoin education community.

HRF Amplifies the Message

The Human Rights Foundation recently featured the documentary in its Financial Freedom Report #127, recognizing the connection between decentralized Bitcoin education and broader efforts for financial liberty and human rights.
