Bitcoin Ekasi is one of the projects that helped turn Bitcoin Beach from a local experiment into a network.
The Federation of Bitcoin Circular Economies, launched in 2023, links those local loops. Reporting on earlier El Zonte meetings has described FBCE as a grouping co-founded with Bitcoin Beach, Bitcoin Ekasi, and Toronto-based organizer Scott Wolfe.
The same network has run grant rounds for projects across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Americas. Africa already had its own chapter.
In December 2025, Bitcoin Beach and FBCE convened the Africa Bitcoin Circular Economies Summit in Port Louis, Mauritius, next to the Africa Bitcoin Conference.
Projects on that roster included Bitcoin Ekasi, Bitcoin Soweto, and Bitcoin Witsand in South Africa, plus groups in Kenya, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, and elsewhere. Bitcoin Beach has also pointed to an Africa fund administered by Bitcoin Ekasi.
