BitSpenda Refreshes Logo, Unifying Brand as BitSpenda While Expanding Bitcoin-to-Mobile Money Access Across Africa

BUSINESS INFRASTUCTURE LIGHTNING NETWORK

BitSpenda has announced a refreshed logo and simplified brand name, dropping the period to move from “Bit.Spenda” to BitSpenda.

The change creates a cleaner, more modern, and unified visual identity while the company’s core mission stays the same: making Bitcoin practical for everyday transactions across Africa.

The announcement, shared on X on November 2, 2026, includes a side-by-side comparison of the old and new logos. The company directed users to explore the refreshed identity at bitspenda.app.

What BitSpenda Does

BitSpenda is a Lightning Network-powered platform that lets users convert Bitcoin into local Mobile Money instantly. Users enter a recipient’s Mobile Money number and amount; BitSpenda generates a Lightning invoice.

Once paid from any Lightning wallet, funds arrive in the recipient’s Mobile Money account in seconds as local currency (such as Ghanaian cedis or Kenyan shillings).

Key features highlighted by the company and partners include:

  • No account creation required.
  • No KYC for core transfers.
  • Near-instant settlement.
  • Low or zero fees.
  • Works with popular Lightning wallets.

Recipients need no Bitcoin knowledge or new apps, they receive money the same way they already use Mobile Money.

Coverage Across Africa

As of mid-2026, BitSpenda supports Bitcoin-to-Mobile Money payouts in five countries:

  • Ghana
  • Kenya
  • Nigeria
  • Uganda
  • Cameroon

This reach puts the service in front of tens of millions of Mobile Money users across East, West, and Central Africa. The company has said more countries are in the pipeline.

Why the Logo Change Matters?

Brand simplification is common among growing fintech and Bitcoin companies as they move from early experimental products to wider public use. Removing the period makes the name easier to type, search, remember, and display across digital and offline materials.

The company explicitly stated that while the visual identity has evolved, the mission remains unchanged: increasing Bitcoin accessibility and simplifying everyday payments.

The timing aligns with BitSpenda’s broader growth, including integration as a Mini App in the Fedi ecosystem (making it easy for Fedi wallet users to send Mobile Money) and recognition in Bitcoin development grant rounds.

Looking Ahead

For Bitcoin users sending money to Africa or living within African Bitcoin communities, BitSpenda reduces friction between Lightning payments and the Mobile Money systems that dominate daily commerce.

The refreshed brand is a small but visible signal that the product is maturing.
