Bitcoin Nairobi Conference 2026: Africa-Led Event Emerges After Adopting Bitcoin Withdrawal

PRESS RELEASE

In a major development for Bitcoin in East Africa, the highly anticipated Nairobi conference is moving forward as a fully independent, Africa-led event.

Organizers have officially unveiled the Bitcoin Nairobi Conference 2026, set for June 24–25, 2026 at the A.S.K. Dome in Nairobi.

The announcement came one day after the international Adopting Bitcoin team confirmed its withdrawal from the original joint event due to differing visions.

Adopting Bitcoin Steps Back

On April 20, 2026, the organization posted on X:

Adopting Bitcoin will no longer be involved in the planned Nairobi conference. Due to differing visions for the event, we have decided to withdraw the Adopting Bitcoin brand. We remain excited about the growing Bitcoin community in Kenya and East Africa. And we wish the local organizers every success as they continue their work under a new banner.”

The Adopting Bitcoin organization is known globally for its “boots-on-the-ground” conferences. Focused on real-world Bitcoin adoption, with past and upcoming events in El Salvador, Cape Town, and more.

Although the global organization stepped back, it expressed continued support for Bitcoin growth across the region.

Local Team Takes Full Ownership

Consequently, AFRIBIT KIBERA, stepped forward with the exciting update. The grassroots group, known for driving Bitcoin circular economy adoption in Kibera, shared on X:

We have an exciting update to share. The Nairobi conference is evolving. We are moving forward as an independent, Africa-led event under our own identity. The Bitcoin Nairobi Conference 2026.

Moreover, the new branding features a powerful acacia tree logo, symbolizing resilience, deep roots, and African sovereignty.
The Bitcoin Nairobi Conference 2026 has been rebranded as an independent, Africa-led event following Adopting Bitcoin’s withdrawal.

What to Expect at Bitcoin Nairobi Conference 2026?

  • Dates: June 24–25, 2026.
  • Venue: A.S.K. Dome (Showground), Nairobi.
  • Audience: Developers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, regulators, and everyday Bitcoin users from across East Africa.

Furthermore, the audience will bring together developers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, regulators, and everyday Bitcoin users. As a result, the event aims to create meaningful impact rather than just discussion.

Why This Matters for Bitcoin in Africa?

Afribit Kibera has spent years building real Bitcoin infrastructure in Kibera. Through education, merchant adoption, and circular economy programs. Their work has been featured by Forbes, BBC, and others as a model for financial inclusion in informal settlements.

Therefore, by this move, the team ensures African priorities and solutions take center stage. Precisely what many in the regional community have advocated.

Bitcoin Nairobi Conference 2026 positions itself as the platform for practical, policy-driven conversations. That can accelerate Bitcoin’s role in Kenya’s economy and across the continent.
