Bitcoin Meetups Nigeria: Communities Gather This September
Nigeria’s Bitcoin builders and learners have a full plate this week, with three developer meetups happening on the same day and a women focused hackathon closing its doors to new applicants soon.
The Sovereign Stack Hackathon, organized by Satoshi Sister Circle, is calling on women across Africa to apply before the deadline closes. The program describes itself as a Bitcoin and emerging tech code-a-thon, where women learn new skills, get mentorship, and build real projects they later present on a demo day. Anyone interested can apply here before September 30.
On the developer side, BitDevs Ibadan is holding its September session this Saturday, September 26, by 5 PM WAT. The group has built a reputation for hands on technical sessions aimed at people building on Bitcoin or just starting out with protocol engineering. Attendees can RSVP here to secure a spot.
The same Saturday, BitDevs Kano is hosting its thirteenth meetup, themed Building At Speed, an introduction to Lightning Network architecture. Not to be left out, BitDevs Kaduna is also gathering on September 26 for its nineteenth epoch, sponsored by Btrust. The Kaduna session runs from 11 AM to 1 PM at Yahya Hub in the city centre, and details are available through the event listing.
The overlap in dates shows how active Nigeria’s Bitcoin scene has become, with multiple cities now running their own regular meetups rather than relying on a single central hub. BitDevs style meetups, which started as informal developer gatherings, have become a common format for teaching Bitcoin’s technical layer, from wallet design to the Lightning Network, in cities across the country.
