Btrust Expands Team to Scale Bitcoin Development Support in Africa

COMMUNITY JOBS

Btrust, a non-profit organization focused on decentralizing Bitcoin development in Africa and the Global South, announced on January 30, 2026, two new full-time remote job openings: Communications Associate and Programs & Operations Officer. These positions aim to scale Btrust’s initiatives in supporting Bitcoin developers, grants management, and community building.

The Communications Associate role will handle content creation, social media campaigns, and storytelling to amplify Btrust’s impact across African Bitcoin communities. The position requires experience in marketing, communications, or content creation, with a passion for Bitcoin and open-source development. Responsibilities include documenting grantee success stories, managing Btrust’s social media presence, and creating educational content about Bitcoin development opportunities.

The Programs & Operations Officer will execute Btrust’s programs and improve operational systems. This role involves managing grant cycles, coordinating with developers and educational initiatives, organizing events, and ensuring smooth operations for Btrust’s various programs including developer grants, educational bootcamps, and community support initiatives.

Applications are open until February 13, 2026, with Btrust targeting candidates passionate about Bitcoin who have experience in their respective fields. Both positions are fully remote, allowing Btrust to tap into talent across the African continent and Global South regions where the organization focuses its efforts.

This hiring push comes as Btrust continues to expand its support for African Bitcoin developers. The organization recently launched the BitDevs Playbook, a comprehensive guide for community organizers looking to establish local Bitcoin development communities, and has funded numerous African developers contributing to Bitcoin Core, Lightning Network implementations, and related open-source projects.

Btrust’s model focuses on creating sustainable pathways for developers in Africa and the Global South to contribute to Bitcoin’s open-source ecosystem. By providing grants, educational resources, and community support, the organization addresses the funding gap that often prevents talented developers in these regions from working on Bitcoin full-time.

The expansion of Btrust’s team signals growing recognition that decentralizing Bitcoin development geographically is essential for the protocol’s long-term resilience and global relevance. African developers bring unique perspectives on Bitcoin’s utility, having firsthand experience with the financial challenges Bitcoin was designed to address.

By strengthening its operational capacity, Btrust is positioning itself to support more developers, run additional programs, and deepen its impact across African Bitcoin communities.
